Accurate laboratory results thanks to precise cleaning: Diaphragm pumps for blood analysis

Sensitive measuring procedures and high sample throughputs place enormous demands on the fluidics of modern blood analysers. Eccentric diaphragm pumps from Schwarzer Precision ensure fast and reliable cleaning processes, prevent contamination and support stable analysis results in continuous operation.

Crucial for accurate measurement results: reliable cleaning cycles

In modern haematology and blood analysis devices, the fluidic systems must be reliably cleaned after each sample. Even the smallest residues or reaction by-products can falsify the measurement results or lead to undesirable carryover effects.

This results in time-consuming repeat tests, delayed diagnoses or - in the worst case - incorrect clinical decisions. Precise rinsing and cleaning processes are therefore an indispensable and central component of the entire analysis platform.

Cleaning, rinsing, drying: our SP 570 EC, SP 6xx EC and SP 7xx EC series liquid diaphragm pumps perform key tasks within the fluidic systems. They convey cleaning media, control flushing processes and transport air to dry sensitive lines or measuring chambers. Thanks to their compact design, they can even be easily integrated into highly integrated analysers.

Only 23 mm wide: our SP 570 EC series liquid diaphragm pumps also fit into highly integrated analysers and impress with their impressive performance and complete freedom from maintenance.

Phase transfer as a technical challenge: rapid change between liquids and gases

A particular challenge in laboratory analysers is the constant, rapid change between liquid and gaseous media. While cleaning liquids are first pumped through the system, this is often immediately followed by an air flow for emptying and drying the lines.

This phase transfer places high technical demands on a diaphragm pump. The pumps must be able to pump both liquids and gases reliably without losing precision or process stability. At the same time, they must be designed to be self-priming and be able to reliably handle short-term dry running phases.

Our customised precision pumps are specially designed for such demanding fluidic tasks. They are safe to run dry and self-priming. They also have a high level of leak-tightness, chemically resistant materials and a smooth, low-pulsation flow rate.

High sample throughput requires fast cleaning processes

Medical laboratories today often analyse several hundred blood samples per hour. As a result, there are often only a few seconds between two analysis cycles to completely clean and rinse the fluidic systems.

The pumps used must therefore enable fast start-stop cycles and work highly dynamically at all times. At the same time, cleaning must not be at the expense of process reliability. Insufficient rinsing increases the risk of contamination, while excessively long cleaning times reduce the overall analysis throughput.

Eccentric diaphragm pumps from Schwarzer Precision are designed to meet these requirements. They enable precisely controllable flow rates with a compact size and high repeatability. This allows fast and reproducible cleaning cycles to be realised.

High requirements: chemical resistance and continuous operation of the pumps

Cleaning processes in analysers often work with aggressive chemicals, disinfectant solutions or buffer media. The pump components used must therefore be permanently chemically resistant in order to function absolutely reliably in continuous operation.

Resistant diaphragm and sealing materials such as EPDM, FKM or FFKM are used, which are specially designed for the requirements of laboratory analyses. At the same time, high demands are placed on service life and process reliability.

Our maintenance-free precision pumps have been developed for long-term use in sensitive laboratory environments. They support stable and reliably reproducible processes - even with thousands of cleaning cycles per day.

Customised precision pumps for integrated analysis platforms

Modern laboratory analysers are becoming increasingly compact and powerful. As a result, there is a growing demand for small, powerful pump systems that can be flexibly integrated into complex fluidic architectures.

Our eccentric diaphragm pumps offer decisive advantages for this: a particularly compact size with outstanding performance values, low noise levels, freely selectable installation positions and precise controllability. With customised pump solutions, we support the manufacturers of laboratory analysis equipment in realising compact and powerful systems for modern diagnostics.

We customise all performance parameters precisely to your individual requirements. In addition, you can choose between different materials for pump heads and elastomers, different operating voltages, customised connections and assemblies, etc.

Thanks to our modular system, you can choose from over 10,000 pump configurations. You will receive customised prototypes from us within just 5 days.
